Good afternoon,
Excellencies, Distinguished Representatives of United Nations Member States,
My name is Sion Kim, the Representative of the High-Level Financial Technology Committee of the ISEA Foundation in the Republic of Korea. The ISEA Foundation is one of the non-governmental organizations granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for this opportunity to share my views, and my deepest appreciation to the United Nations and all Member States for their continuous support and prayers for the Republic of Korea.
The Republic of Korea gained its independence after the Second World War in 1945. However, we still had to rebuild a nation devastated by war. Then, in 1950, South Korea once again faced suffering through the Korean War with North Korea.
In this desperate situation, the United Nations and its Member States quickly came to our aid by participating in the war.
During the three years of the Korean War, the Korean Peninsula was once again reduced to ruins. Many foreign journalists said, “There is no hope and there is no tomorrow in Korea.”
General MacArthur, Commander of the United Nations Forces, stated that “it would take more than one hundred years to rebuild Korea.”
However, the United Nations did not abandon Korea. According to statistics, South Korea received 12.7 billion U.S. dollars in assistance from the United Nations at that time.
Today, not only has South Korea’s economy grown into one of the world's leading economies, but “Today's Korea,” “my organization,” and “myself” are able to stand here in this honorable place. I would like to express my gratitude once again to all of you.
Today, we are living in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and South Korea stands as a leader in information technology.
The world is living within a highly automated system driven by technological development, including big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technology-based virtual currencies such as Bitcoin.
Keeping pace with these technological developments, the ISEA Foundation has recognized the need for a new approach to solving poverty and has devoted the past three years to the development and simulation of virtual currencies.
As we all know, our financial resources are under the control of the state and financial institution. However, in this 4th Industrial Revolution era, virtual currency has been introduced, which there are no owners.
So to us, non-governmental organizations, blockchain technology is a new opportunity for human beings to restore their human rights for survival. Basically, virtual currency is generated by mining activity and automatically produces money.
And the survivor money, MobiDollar, is based on the Earth's productivity, which can provide for 12 billion people. That's why we are developing and advancing this technology and trying to distribute it to people living in extreme
poverty and help them to enjoy their human dignity and human rights. And we call our virtual currency as MobiDollar.
Our organization calls these rights “Survival Human Rights.”
Survival Human Rights include the right to food, the right to sleep, the right to emergency medical service, the right to movement, the right to communication, the right to education, and the right to information.
Furthermore, we wish to grant administrative authority to the United Nations, UN Member States, and NGOs so that MobiDollar may be distributed fairly to regions and individuals in need.
The central principle of the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals is “Leaving No One Behind.”
Since 1990, the United Nations has helped one billion people escape extreme poverty. Nevertheless, eight hundred million people are still waiting for our help.
However, these Survival Human Rights and human dignity should never become privileges enjoyed only by certain groups of people, because all human beings are born equal and possess the right to life.
Therefore, our organization seeks your support and prayers for MobiDollar, the Survival Money, so that not a single person will be left behind.
Finally, the goals of MobiDollar can only be achieved through the immediate cooperation of Member States and NGO representatives who act with goodwill for humanity and future generations, and such efforts to protect Survival Human Rights should not be fundamentally restricted by national or international constraints.
